“The greener the setting, the more the relief.” – Richard Louv
Under cover by a cooperative fog, 21 bikes with 23 riders made their way behind Mike Sherman north on 101 to the Sonoma county line, where the toy box of good times was at hand. The sun was lighting up the landscape, as the gateway of a bikers dopamine was opened!
Willits provided fuel and a leg stretch or two before we turned West toward the winding redwood tree lined pathway to the beaches and salty air.
The smoothly paved Hwy 20 led us to Fort Bragg, where Silvers on the Wharf was able to seat the hungry mob on their old dock over the water, treating us to a good dose of tranquility and some healthy social distancing with fellow riding buddies.
After a great lunch we cruised South along the stunning Pacific Coast Hwy before turning inland at the Navarro bridge, into what a good story writer could easily paint as an enchanted forest- but to the locals it’s protectively known as the Redwoods in our backyard.
A leisurely stop for fuel in Booneville to see genuine smiles under helmeted heads was a great excuse for delaying the inevitable…
Slowly meandering our way back to 101, and a little more time in the sun, we were treated with one more “gas stop” among the vineyards and golden hills in Cloverdale.
Maybe it’s side effects from a time out but there was no debating it, on our journey to nowhere except back where we started, “home” has never looked so… fun!
