It was a dark and stormy night … somewhere. But not on our ride to Capay Valley. Started out great with around 19 riders. Began with lots of sun, then as we wound our way up Mt. Saint Helena it got pretty foggy and chilly, only to clear quickly and warm up as we came down the other side of the mountain.
The ride through Cache Creek Canyon and Capay Valley to lunch at the Road Trip Bar & Grill was spectacularly green and inviting. And at lunch we decided how to do a “work around” for the section of 128 that was closed due to a slide. So, after some delicious Road Trip grub, and with George Homenko guiding this section, we headed down the 505 to 80, to connect with a road that brought us back north through Wooden Valley to 128 again. Then to Silverado Trail and back to Santa Rosa via Mark Springs West Rd.
A longish ride, but no one seemed unhappy about that. Perfect weather and comradery make the miles pass quickly.
