The first group ride of 2021 went off without a hitch on Wednesday, January 13th.  We had eleven bikes and riders, which included one newcomer, Ken Burkett. The weather was a bit drizzly when we took off and we had heavy overcast for the entire ride, but no rain! I believe we did have a nano-second of sunshine in the afternoon.

Leaving Shari’s, the group headed up/down (I don’t know) Rohnert Park Expressway to Petaluma Hill Road and then onto Crane Canyon Road. From Crane Canyon we took Bennett Valley Road to Kenwood and then Hwy. 12 to Calistoga Road. Once in Calistoga we stopped for a rest/potty break at Pioneer Park. After resting and relieving we then took Hwy. 128 towards Geyserville where we stopped for lunch at River Rock Casino. It should be noted that the Road Captain led the group to an unauthorized parking area, where we were not so swiftly ushered to the next level by security!

A nice meal was enjoyed on the veranda overlooking the valley. It was pleasant sitting four at a table and having our meals served to us! After lunch we headed to Guerneville, via W. Dry Creek Road to Westside then onto River Road.

Our last rest stop was at the Safeway in Guerneville where we said our goodbyes. Those remaining with the group headed towards Jenner and then Bodega Bay and broke up in Petaluma.
