Waterfalls Tour 2021

Friday morning started out with 14 bikes and 15 riders, as we made our way to Middletown VIA Calistoga grade, we meet another 2 up at the gas station. Our next stop was at the Williams Shell on our way there we picked up another 2 up.

Due to lunch reservation, we didn’t have enough time to cruise on Hwy 49, so we made tracks and jammed on i5. We all had an amazing lunch at Rock & Brew in the Rolling Rock Casino, Corning. Upon arrival the staff had our table all set up. The atmosphere of the restaurant was electrifying. They had concerts from the 80’s playing on the big screen, the service was also outstanding. Chris (a former RRWD) and his buddy Jeff meet us for lunch also.

After lunch we gassed up and Chris & Jeff lead us on some beautiful backroads. It was super cool to see the hand stacked rock wall that went for miles and miles. After a pit stop, we made our way to the Burney. Upon arrival at the hotel, we had another 2 up meet us there. Chris and Jeff saw us to our hotel then they headed back home. The rest of the crew gathered around enjoyed some cocktails, camaraderie, then it was (18) off to dinner.

Arts Outpost had our tables ready. The drinks were flowing and laughter filled the air. Food was amazing and service was top notch.

Saturday everyone was on time and ready to go at 8am. We had a pit stop at the gas station then it was off to Beautiful Burney Falls. The hike around the falls was absolutely stunning. It was great to see the look on peoples face who had never seen Burney Falls before. After the hike around the falls, it was off to the gift shop. Pretty much everyone found a treasure to bring home.

We made our way to the McCloud Upper, Middle and Lower Falls. At the lower falls most of the group took a dip in the water to cool off, it was super invigorating. After a dip, it was off to McCloud for lunch. Half the group went for burgers and shakes and the rest went to the Restaurant.

After lunch it was a warm ride to Weed VIA i5, Gazelle, then we tied into Hwy 3. We rolled into Weaverville and temps had ranged from 85 to 106. Once everyone got checked in, it was a mad dash to the pool to cool off. Everyone disbursed for dinner.

After dinner we gathered around the pool again to enjoy cupcakes for the birthday girl Lyndasue!

Sunday – everyone was up and ready to go by 8am. Doug and Bonnie headed out early to beat the heat back to Reno. The rest of the group made their way on 299. After enjoying some yummy coffee a Strawhouse (they roast their own beans on site) and a few breakfast bites it was back on the road. We made our way on 299 to 101, then lunch was at the Eel River Brewing Company. The weather was getting warm and the Road Captains felt 2 rest stops were in order. We stopped in Leggett for gas but the pump was too slow so we also stopped Laytonville. The last stop was in Hopland where Root Beer floats were enjoyed.

This is the Road Captains 4th annual ride. We look forward to doing it again! We hope you all enjoyed the ride. Stay Safe out there.

Big shout out to Wendy for all her great photos, card and cupcakes for the Birthday Girl. Also to Melisa for the b-day card also.
