14 bikes and 15 riders gathered at Shari’s for our 3-day Gold Beach Jet Boat ride. We left at 7:30, heading north on 101 to our 1st rest stop at the Chevron in north Ukiah, where we picked up 3 more riders. After a gas/rest stop in Laytonville, we headed to our lunch stop in Eureka at Village Pantry. The restaurant was very accommodating, and the food was good. We stopped for gas at the north end of Eureka, but unfortunately a few in our group missed the stop and kept going.
Construction was a concern as we heard 4-hour delays were a possibility. Luckily, those long delays stopped Fridays at noon. So, after about a 20-25 minute delay, we continued on to Gold Beach, OR.
After checking in, we headed across the street for dinner. A previous club member was waitressing and reserved a table for us all. It was really good to see Julee & Mike Sherman.
Saturday was a beautiful day for the Jet Boat ride up the river. 2 riders chose to ride up the coast a bit and explore. The rest of us enjoyed a very scenic and somewhat wet boat ride. Always fun doing the quick stops and spins. We saw some bald eagles, osprey, river otters, elk, and some boat racers. We enjoyed a nice lunch stop 32 miles upriver, before heading back to Gold Beach.
Some went for a ride along the river, and some took it easy. We all went our own ways for dinner.
Sunday morning, about half the group chose to leave early, then rest of us enjoyed a great breakfast at a favorite restaurant in Crescent City, then headed home. We got home about 4:30, riding almost 700 miles in cool fog and hot sun.
Thanks to all who attended making this another fun Redwood Riders ride
