It was a great day for a ride and what better way to enjoy it than with a tour of the place that we are lucky enough to call home.  Riders started showing up around 9:30am at Shari’s and they just kept coming. We had some new riders join us with some becoming new members of the group. Conversations filled the air as we got everyone signed in and ready to go. All in all, we had 27 bikes show up.

The air was crisp and cool and the sun was shining as we headed east on Rohnert Park Expressway to Snyder Lane where we connected with Roberts Road to enjoy a ride through the countryside to Bennett Valley via Sonoma Mountain Road. We continued on to Kenwood where we caught Highway 12 to Trinity Rd. As we headed up and over Trinity, with the Sonoma valley below us, a few of the riders got a little separated. The road was twisty and a little rough but offered beautiful views and a great technical ride to Napa Valley. The bikers in the front paused at the bottom of the hill in Oakdale to meet up with the pack before turning right onto Highway 128. From here we headed down 128 to our first stop at The Food Mill on Trancas in Napa for lunch.

The group ordered their food and filled the place with chatter and laughter. Lunch was good with lots of choices and plenty of parking. With everyone full and ready to go, we headed down Silverado Trail to Highway 128 east. We took a little break at Lake Hennessey. The day was really warming up as we continued down 128 to catch a left onto Chiles Pope Valley Rd. The road was easy as it followed the creek and continued on to the countryside of Napa to Pope’s Valley. We headed up and over via Howell Mountain Rd under the canopy of the forest. As we emerged, we arrived at our last stop, Angwin, for gas and goodbyes.

As a group, we headed out and continued down Howell Mountain Road to Deer Park where we caught Silverado Trail again but this time heading to Calistoga Road. We stayed together until Porter Creek Rd. and with a wave, some continued straight while the rest of us headed toward Highway 101 via Porter Creek/Mark West Rd. Yes, it was a great day for a ride.
