We started early on Saturday at 8 am. The early start was to beat some of the valley heat and to get to Sutter Creek around lunch time. We had 14 bikes at the start with several other riders, who started the previous day, meeting us at Lake Topaz.
Our ride leader, Robyn, had a problem with her Harley the morning of the ride. Her bike had a dead battery. Because of that she was not able to meet up with us until we stopped for lunch. After lunch both Robyn and her bike assumed the lead position and we proceeded up over the Sierras.
We crossed East over the Sierras on Highway 88 or Carson Pass. This is a great road with some spectacular views. We arrived at the Lake Topaz Casino at around 4:30. The normal evening get together was held in front of our hotel rooms on some picnic tables. Good times and good friends.
The next morning after a good breakfast we started out at 8am for our return trip. For the Westward route we rode on highway 4 through Bear Valley. This road is a little more twisty than the previous day’s ride but the views were really something to be seen. I am already looking forward to the next time I ride this road.
Sunday’s lunch was in Rio Vista at Foster’s Big Horn. If you have never eaten here it is a trip. Be sure to see the pictures.
I think everyone had a good time on this ride and I for one would like to make this ride a yearly event.
