Well, for those of you who didn’t make the ride last Saturday, you missed a good one. Lunch reservations had been made for 10 riders but that had to be changed at the riders meeting since we had 24 bikes heading out. Sixteen people indicated they were having lunch with the rest of them along just for the ride. So, reservations were changed and off we went.
Although a little foggy when we left Shari’s headed North on 101 to Mark West Springs Road the day turned out to be perfect for a ride. We rode at a leisurely pace so folks could get a sense of the fire devastation without jeopardizing life and limb. At Calistoga we turned left up Highway 128 and had a very nice ride up Alexander Valley. By this time we were riding under beautiful blue skies punctuated by billowy white clouds and a very pleasant temperature.
When we got back to 101 North of Healdsburg we head back south and took a right turn at Dry Creek Road and meandered up to the top of the valley before turning back toward Cloverdale. From there we followed the frontage road along the freeway south to Independence Lane and on to the Winery. Somehow our count for the restaurant had grown to 18 but they were able to accommodate everyone and by all accounts everyone had a great meal.
After lunch everyone made their way back home. Don’t miss George’s ride to Stinson Beach on the 21st (it might not even rain)!
